The Art of Zombie Warfare is “the most authoritative tome available today on the subject of zombie combat.” Ever wished that you, too, could posses the awesome fighting skills of the walking dead? Well, you’re in luck!
Part self-help manual, part horror novel, this massively tongue-in-cheek book will appeal to those with an offbeat sense of humor. Drawing correlations between classic zombie behaviors and important life skills, Zombie Warfare has uplifting chapter titles like “Think Positive” juxtaposed with gory cartoons. While The Art of Zombie Warfare is primarily about battle and military strategy, zombie-style, author Scott Kenemore has also written The Zen of Zombie and Z.E.O.: A Zombie’s Guide to Getting (A)Head in Business, part of a series that focuses on applying “Zombie skills” to various aspects of your life.
The humor in this book does wear a bit thin – I think it could have perhaps benefited from being shorter. And while I appreciated Kenemore’s very humorous approach, there are instances where he relies a little too much on shock value alone to get a laugh. That being said, the fact that Kenemore has managed to write not just one, but three books on this topic is much to his credit; I have to give serious props to any writer who can come up with that much material for a Zombie-themed self-help series.
This is really a “Concept book” rather than something you would sit and read intently – unless, of course, you are truly serious about learning Zombie fighting techniques. This makes a perfect gag gift for someone with the right sense of humor; I gave this to one of my future in-laws as a funny birthday present, and she absolutely loved it! Be warned, this book is not for those who offend easily – however, I doubt that they would be interested in reading a book about Zombie combat in the first place.
The Art of Zombie Warfare is available on Amazon for $11.01. Skyhorse Publishing provided me with a copy of the book for review purposes.
OO gimme gimme i wants it baaaaaaaad 😀
Okay this is obviously what I should get my husband for his upcoming birthday. He is SO hard to buy for! But what man wouldn’t want to sit and read about zombie warfare? I might even read it… when he’s not looking.
I think I need this book. It will go along well with The Zombie Survival Guide. Then I’ll be prepared, weather I’m a survivor, or a zombie.
I LOVED this book and now I know how to kick ass like a zombie!! Kidding aside (although I wouldn’t take me on now that I learned all the Zombie tricks if I were you)..this is a really good book…it is quite entertaining!
Seriously? A self-help zombie themed book? You know what? The tag line of this book alone makes me want to read it.
It would be a great coffee table book to start conversations or get weird look from guests
I love braiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnzzzzzzzzzzzz … er, ahem, …. I mean zombies ;D
Seriously, gotta get this book lol
OMG I would love to read this book LOL!
I have read every Kenemore Zombie book from front to back, as I don’t want to miss a single word, and if you ask me, his humor gets better and his jokes get funnier. . yes, there is swearing in these books, but they are not meant for children, they are meant for adults. . and if zombies don’t shock you at least a little, what is the point??
Sounds interesting. I may have to check it out.
I’m cracking up reading all these great comments! Katie, I definitely wouldn’t want to mess with you and your awesome Zombie skills. 😉
I’m not sure exactly why but this weblog is loading very slow for me. Is anyone else having this issue or is it a problem on my end? I’ll check back later and see if the problem still exists.
