I’ve been saying for years that I need to get a better pillowcase. I’ve read before that silk pillowcases can supposedly reduce the amount of wrinkles you get, and when I would press my face into my old pillowcase, I’d picture my skin folding and wrinkling from the pressure. 😉 Well, silk pillowcases are a bit of a luxury item so I’ve never gotten around to purchasing one. So imagine my delight to learn of YouthPerfect, a company selling kits addressing this exact worry! YouthPerfect pillowcases are a synthetic material (Not silk), but it’s the same kind of idea. The Spa Pillow Case Kit which I received contained two pillowcases, three aromatherapy scents and diffusers, and a gel mask for the eyes.
The pillowcase is soft, shiny and slippery on one side with a flat, “Matte” texture on the back side, presumably to prevent the pillow from sliding. The pillow is very comfortable and I love finally having a “Special” pillowcase for my face now! One interesting side note – when you rub the material quickly, the static actually causes the appearance of a spark. I noticed this when I was adjusting the pillow and saw a flash in the dark! If you rub your hand over it quickly, you will see this effect.
The pillow also contains a pouch which you can use for optional aromatherapy. The kit comes with eucalyptus, lavender and vanilla scents – just put a drop from the bottle on one of the strips of paper included and tuck into the pouch. I haven’t used this much because I’m not huge on the idea of my pillow being scented (And I just plain forget!), but when I did try it I noticed how subtle and non-intrusive it was.
I also enjoyed the cooling eye gel mask, which is also lightly lavender scented. I put it into the fridge before using as directed, but it was so cold I had to take it off – I think next time I’ll let it “Warm up” for a minute before putting it on. I do love the cooling feeling of the gel and this will be awesome for the summertime heat.
So, does your pillow really affect the way you age and does YouthPerfect make any difference? I have to say, I appreciated that this company provided detailed information relating to their product and concept – click here to read their PDF file outlining the research/studies which they referenced while developing the product. I thought they did a good job of making a case for their pillow and referencing sources and concepts to back it up – most anti-aging products seem to be shrouded in hype with little attempt at fact-checking. I am not a doctor so I can’t make any guarantees about what this pillow will or will not do, nor have I done exhaustive fact-checking on what was referenced in their studies, but I’d encourage you to read the information and make up your own mind.

I get about 8-9 hours of sleep per night and I think the gel cooling eye mask would help!

I usually get 4-7 hours of sleep a night. I think I would love the eye mask! I have heard before to sleep on your back to prevent wrinkles. I’ve heard that years ago. Unfortunately not everyone can. I can’t because of my back. I wake up with a numb and burning sensation in my lower back all the way down to my feet. I would LOVE to try this!!
