Auto tinkerers will enjoy this website, because of the wide selection of parts. I really liked the site’s layout – it’s crisp and appealing, with all of the content easily accessible. I did encounter one small problem when I tried to do a “New Part Search” and was given a database error message; everything else worked great for me.
Visiting TurboCharger Pros got me thinking about my own car, and all the upgrades I’d like to make to it. Here’s a photo of my ride – a 1960 Mercury Comet.
There’s a big list of features that I plan to add to the Comet, and someday I hope to have the time to actually do it. The last upgrade I made was converting the vacuum wipers to electric; next up, bodywork and a paint job, new steering column, and a new MP3 player, since my last one has burned out. I hadn’t thought of putting a turbocharger on the Comet until I visited this website, but you know, it might help – my car doesn’t have a lot of power going up hills, so this might improve its performance. And I think it would be worth it just for the incredulous looks I would get from car buffs!

The problem with trying to turbocharge a 1960 Comet is that the intake manifold was cast with the head and is very restrictive. It would take more than just bolting on a turbo to realize any effective gain. This is a flaw in the Ford six motor. You would probably have to swap the head to a later model six or get a custom aluminum head to really make a turbo work on that engine. See: http://classicinlines.com/Home.asp
