Nickelodeon’s Parents Connect website is offering two free “virtual boot camps” as a resource to parents who are pinching pennies and potty-training. The first boot camp, the Recession Proofing Boot Camp with Carmen Wong Ulrich, offers tips and tricks to make it though tough economic times by cutting costs and spending smart. As a frugal coupon queen, I’m all for any tools that can help empower people to make their money work better for them! If your budget is OK, but you’re having trouble potty-training your child, then Nick’s second boot camp, Potty Training Boot Camp with The Potty Pro might be of help.
The boot camps work by giving a series of assignments in the form of helpful articles that offer hints and tips along with suggested exercises. For example, challenge #4 at the Recession Boot Camp gives advice on listing “Needs vs. Wants” in order to identify where your money is going and isolate any unnecessary expenditures. The boot camps also provide message boards so that you can connect with other people in similar situations and stay accountable for your goals. You also have the opportunity to submit your questions directly to the experts, who will be answering queries throughout the boot camps.
These boot camps seem like a unique way to offer help and advice to parents. While I don’t know if I would sign up for a boot camp message board, I do think the articles are pretty cool and might be useful if you’re not sure where to start. Have any of you signed up for one of these boot camps? Did you find it to be helpful?
You know I’ve been thinking about the Recession Proofing Boot Camp but I just haven’t done it yet! Thanks for the gentle push and reminder 🙂
