It’s always serendipitous when food samples arrive in the post right as I’m about to eat lunch. Today, I received a complimentary bag of Turbana Natural Plantain Chips in the mail. These unique chips are made with just three ingredients: Selected fresh plantains, vegetable oil, and salt. Plantains are a member of the banana family, with their fruit often being put to use in cooking, as opposed to soft and sweet “Dessert bananas”. These chips are thin and savory – you’d never know that they are made from a fruit! The flavor is fantastic. Strangely, these reminded both Jai and I of shrimp-flavored chips. I ate them all promptly and very much enjoyed them; these are perfect for any instance where you’re craving a salty chip.
Turbana Plantain Chips can be purchased online at Platanicious.com. An eight-pack of Turbana Natural Plantain Chips (1.05 oz bags) retails for $4.72; they also carry a variety of other flavors, from garlic to lime.
I’ve always wondered what a plantain tasted like.
