Time is at a premium for all of us now, making it harder and harder to find time to cook. Even if you love preparing meals, you may find yourself eating out more often simply due to a lack of time. That’s why I think The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Meals In 30 Minutes or Less by Tod Dimmick would make a great gift for so many people this holiday season! Containing 500 recipes for the time-crushed, there are quick and simple recipes in here for everything from appetizers to snacks, kid-approved dinners to vegetarian meals, and of course, desserts! In addition to the recipes, the book also offers tips and suggestions for increasing efficiency as well as definitions of equipment and ingredients, making this a helpful book for those moving into their first apartment or dorm.
What I really like about this book is that the recipes are genuinely simple. Too many times, I’ll be looking for recipes I can make in a hurry, and only turn up recipes that call of a load of ingredients, prep, and dishes. I appreciate how many of these recipes call for few ingredients and not much prep – for example, there’s a “Speedy Chicken” recipe in here that calls for just boneless chicken breasts, canola oil, onions, and salt. That’s my idea of fast! Of course, most recipes are a little more ambitious than that, but there’s enough solid, quick recipes in here that I am impressed and have added the promo copy I received to my bookshelf to refer to in the future!
The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Meals In 30 Minutes or Less by Tod Dimmick is available on Amazon for $14.93.
