I teach preK-8th grade music in rural Illinois. The village has one of IL’s lowest property tax bases (and that’s how our state handles school funding). We receive Title 1 funding, but rely on grants and crowd funding for any needs beyond the bare minimum… and let’s face it, that’s where the joy in learning comes in!
I teach not only about music, but through it. I teach with a focus on empathy, equity, diversity, and inclusion, with a combination of holding students accountable while giving them grace as they are learning how to be human. My goal is to grow GREAT musicians who are EVEN BETTER people.

Thanks so much am a para librarian for an inner city Title 1 school with a zero budget to run my library. Am always looking for ways to have my almost 500 students have a wonderful library class.
