Yesterday afternoon, I hosted a really fun beach day celebration in honor of National Vanilla Ice Cream Day for my friends and family. Since we live a mile away from the beach in Seaside, Oregon, summer is the perfect time to head down to the ocean. So on Saturday we packed up a bag of outdoor games and a cooler full of TCBY Frozen Yogurt and headed down to the beach for a party!
Since I’m a hostess at heart and also extremely busy, this wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment affair, but one that I planned out for a week prior. I wanted to make cute invitations and plan out my refreshments and entertainment, so I started on Monday evening by heading down to the water to beachcomb for shells to incorporate into my handmade invites. I super-glued shells and sand dollars onto the back of my printed invitations and then delivered them in person to those who lived nearby. For those that weren’t in the immediate vicinity, I took the cute photo you see above and e-mailed it to them as their “E-Vite”! I wanted to give people as much notice as possible since everyone has a lot going on.
Then on Wednesday, I headed over to Walmart to pick up party snacks!
We picked up a selection of TCBY Frozen Yogurt Bars and Sandwiches, which were easy to find in the ice cream aisle. There were many varieties available, including large tubs, but we opted for bars as we thought they would be the perfect summertime treat to have at the beach.
When I woke up on Saturday morning, I was dismayed. In true Oregon fashion, it was raining and gloomy! Would my party be ruined by the elements?
As luck would have it, the clouds parted an hour before the party started and the sun came out. It went from drizzling rain and miserable clouds to bright sunshine and perfect weather. As they always say in Oregon – if you don’t like the weather, just wait an hour! 😉
Jai and I found a good spot on the beach and set up chairs, some large beach candles, bags of games and towels, and of course, a cooler full of TCBY!
Grandma was the first guest to arrive, so she and Jai had a seat and tucked into a Vanilla Frozen Yogurt Sandwich. Jai has always loved ice cream sandwiches, so of course I had to pick up a box of these! Everyone loved how creamy they were.
Meanwhile, I decided to have an Orange & Vanilla Bar! Mmm!
One of my BFFs arrived with her husband and dug into the tasty treats!
Of course, it wouldn’t be a party without games!
Later on, my friend used the beach toys to build a sort of sand sculpture. 😉
More friends arrived to join the fun!
As the party wound down, I sent each guest home with a box of the TCBY Frozen Yogurt to enjoy!
We really lucked out having such perfect weather for the day. Everyone had a blast trying out the different flavors of frozen yogurt, and I really enjoyed spending time with my friends and family on such a beautiful day. OMG could you be any cuter in your little bathing suit polka dot dress thing? These look delicious. I’m a sucker for an ice cream sandwich and I don’t even eat that type of thing.
Lee
Aww, thank you Lee!
How incredibly fun was that?! I would love to live so close to the beach 🙂 And what great party favors to go home with! I love that shot of the boxes in the sand, it’s perfect.
Thanks, Tammy! We had a lot of fun. Living close to the beach is one of the reasons I’ve stayed in this area for so long. 🙂
So glad the weather cleared for your party. Looks like the weather ended up to be perfect!
First of all – I LOVE Seaside, OR!!!! 😀 Just after my hubs and I married, we flew to Washington to have a 2nd reception (we basically eloped) and then took a week to drive down the OR coast. Seaside was my fave!
Second – that party looks like SO MUCH FUN!!
looks like you had a fun day 🙂
Oh yummy I love TCBY and did not know they had ice cream sandwiches!!
I am so jealous of were you live…just beautiful! The TCBY look yummy, too! 🙂
A day at the beach plus ice cream. What better way to spend the day. Great pictures, looks like you had a ton of fun.
Yum! I wish I lived close to the beach! The ice cream looks delicious. A perfect day!
How did I not know about these? I am looking forward to running errands at Walmart today so that I can pick some up!
Looks like fun! I love your invitations…great idea!!
What a cute, fun party. And your grandma is so pretty!
Oh how FUN! I’m glad the sun finally came out! Plus, your Grandma looks awesome. Love it!!
Looks like lots of “yum” and fun!
This looks like such a fun time! And yummy!
I’m so glad the sun cooperated for you! What a fabulous and fun family day! Even better with yummy TCBY treats! Thanks for sharing your fun 🙂
How great the weather improved just in time. Loved that your grandma made it out! It looks like you had a fun time with your family and friends!!
Yummy! So interesting to see all of you in shoes and socks on the beach. We all sport flip flops and sandals here in sunny FL. I went to college in Montana and visited OR so I understand why you choose the footwear you do. Just an interesting observation while looking at the pictures!
That looks like so much fun!!! And yummy treats!
You’re so cute Beeb! It looks like it turned out to be a gorgeous day and those treats look yummy!
