We have officially wrapped up our second month on Nutrisystem! In our video diary above, Jai and I talk about what it’s meant to us so far and how it’s changed our lives for the better. I also discuss my knee injury in-depth and how starting Nutrisystem has given me control back after a devastating and debilitating 2 years. If you’re struggling with immobility due to an injury, you’ll probably recognize a lot of your own struggles in this video. I’m feeling so much more confident and optimistic than I did in the spring, which is why I titled this episode hope.

Jai’s Weigh-In:

Week 8 Weight: 195 lbs
Total Weight Lost: 22.5 lbs
Goal Weight: 158 lbs
Here are Jai’s measurements:
That’s 1 inch down on the arms, half an inch down on the chest, 1 inch down on the hips, and half an inch up on the thighs. His waist measurement is the same as last month.
Jai lost 1.8 pounds this week, while I lost 0.2 pounds. My weight loss was minimal, but my numbers are still going down each week, so it’s all progress in the right direction! I’m pretty happy with how last week went. I made a real effort to eat all my recommended veggies every day and drink all my water. Nutrisystem provides you with a handy water bottle that holds 32 ounces, so you are advised to drink two bottles worth each day. I’ve making an effort to drink at least 64 ounces of straight water – often more – in addition to drinking coffee. There were two days last week where I drank less water than the recommended amount of water; on these days, I hadn’t gotten much sleep and was working on some major projects like our web host transfer, so I ended up drinking more coffee just to keep myself going. Once that was over, I got back to drinking tons of water again.
I had another insight about water this morning – yesterday, I drank well over 64 ounces of water, not just for my diet plan but also to keep hydrated as we’ve had hot-for-here temperatures. When I woke up this morning, I had an awful headache and felt really queasy. I thought I might be dehydrated, so I forced myself to drink a cup of water even though I felt so icky that I actually thought I was going to be sick after I drank it. However, after about an hour and another cup of water, I feel totally better. So remember, even when you guzzle water constantly, hot weather can still be really dehydrating and the symptoms can be misleading. After all, it seems counter-intuitive to drink fluids when the very thought makes you feel like you will be terribly ill!
So we’re two months into the program and feeling great! It’s made a huge difference in how we feel, both physically and mentally. Every week that we’ve been on the plan so far, we have lost weight. This has been true for both Jai, who goes to the gym and has started jogging, and myself, who is limited to physiotherapy only. We enjoy really tasty food every day without having to cook or do a huge kitchen clean-up afterwards – which is amazing in and of itself! Here’s a little sampling of what we’ve been noshing on this month:
One of my personal favorites: STEAK!
You might recognize this meal from our grilling tips article! These are chicken breasts which I grilled with chopped carrots. Good solution to take along to those summer BBQs!
It’s been a very exciting two months on Nutrisystem, and we are truly looking forward to month three!

Men suck, never lose weight with a man, it’s a nightmare. They lose so much quicker than we do. Lesson learned.
But you look amazing and I’m so happy for you!
Lee
Wow. Congrats on the weight loss. I always wondered if Nutri System worked or not. Thanks for sharing.
You are such an encouragement! Congratulations!
Congrats to both of you on the weight loss and on making a huge effort to change your lifestyle! It’s great that you are doing it together and giving each other support!
You can really see a difference now. This is terrific! I’m glad both of you are doing it; I’m sure the support for each other is a big key!
Thank you so much for the kind support, everyone! Lee – he not only loses weight twice as fast, but he also gets to eat double the desserts every day as I do. Insult to injury, right? LOL!!!!!
I’m always surprised how good the food looks. You guys look great as well, keep up the good work!
Wow! you both look great!
I’m over here just giddy watching your video! SO proud of you guys!! I am so enjoying your updates. keep going!!
you are so right on that tip about water. I’m terrible about drinking water but I try to force myself to drink it even if it makes me feel icky because like you said, a few hours later I feel a lot better. 🙂
That’s wonderful! Great job to both of you and to you for muscling through your headache and fixing it with water. Water really does wonders and I need to drink more of it as well.
I can’t believe how awesome you two are!
Love your water tip too. I need to cut out the diet coke and drink more water!
You are both doing so well! It’s good to see that you are drinking all that water, especially when you have been outdoors in the heat. I have trouble drinking as much water as is recommended. Living in Arizona, where it is so dry, I really need to be drinking more.
keep up the good work…I find it hard to keep up with the water and veggies…only so many ways to cook a carrot and I get bored!
Thank you so much everyone! You are all so incredibly sweet and supportive!
Karen – I know what you mean, even when it isn’t so hot here in Oregon it’s easy to get dehydrated. It really sneaks up on you!
Diane – I’ve always found it hard to keep up with my recommended intake as well. Before I used to buy produce and have a hard time getting through it. What’s funny is that now I buy a ton of produce and we run out really fast! I respond well to routines so Nutrisystem has made it easier for me to get everything in because it’s all on a set schedule that I don’t have to think about. I know what you mean about the boredom though. I have a TON of great veggie recipes but it’s too much work for me right now to go to all that trouble (LOL) so what I’ve been doing is honestly just buying a 5-lb bag of carrots and making sure I eat a couple at lunch and dinner. I know that sounds very boring, but I prefer brainless and easy when I have a lot going on, lol!
You look great! Men! I swear they seem to have the weight just melt off! Just not fair! Keep you the good work!!! Make sure that you keep drinking that water! I have heard it really helps in weight loss! 🙂
I always love coming to your blog and reading about your progress wit NutriSystem. You are doing so great.
You guys are doing great!!! Keep up the great work!
