It wouldn’t be the holidays without chocolate! When you’re looking for a gift that everyone in the family can enjoy, it’s probably a safe bet that something sweet will go over a treat! And whether you’re putting together a gift basket or looking for sophisticated chocolate to tuck into a stocking, Scharffen Berger Chocolate Maker has something for you. This purveyor of artisan chocolates has a variety of delectable treats sure to please!
I received a box of Scharffen Berger samples to review not too long ago, and since I take my job very seriously, it was my arduous job to taste-test them all. 😉 There was a wide selection, from a “Chocolate Folio” full of mini samples that would be ideal for stockings, to full-size bars. Some of the standouts to me were the Milk Chocolate with Sea Salted Almonds Bar, a delicious, smooth milk chocolate treat accented with delicious almonds; the Milk Chocolate Bar, a delicious classic for a milk chocolate fan such as myself; and the 62% Cacao Semisweet Chocolate which is dark but smooth and tasty.
We also tried the 70% Cacao Bittersweet Chocolate – Jai and I are not huge fans of dark chocolate, but while this was dark and bittersweet, it was not bad. The 82% Cacao Extra Dark Chocolate is very dark, high quality, and for mature tastebuds!
There were a lot of samples in the box I got, but since we are watching our weight, I didn’t want the temptation of a giant box of choccie sitting on my desk since I knew it would all be demolished in about 5 seconds. 😉 So, we packed it up and took it over to a relative’s house to share. The family members who tasted it greatly enjoyed it, so this got two thumbs up from everyone we knew – further cementing Scharffen Berger’s status as great gift material!
And if for some reason chocolate isn’t your thing, they also carry a Unsweetened Natural Cocoa Powder that makes delicious hot chocolate – ever since receiving it, I’ve really been enjoying treating myself to a cup of cocoa at the end of a long day. Perfect for winter!
Scharffen Berger Chocolate Maker products are available at a variety of stores – click here to locate one near you. You can also buy the chocolate on their official website; prices start at $2.50 and up, so there’s a yummy gift in every price point!
Now that sounds like some yummy chocolate! I’ve never heard of it but that sea salted almonds would rock my world!
I just went Paleo, but thankfully I can still have dark chocolate! Off to check them out, thanks!!
Yum, I love chocolate, especially white chocolate so was there any white chocolate? I’m so proud of you guys for sticking to your healthy eating. I don’t know if I could be that committed.
Feel free to send the chocolate to me, Beeb, but good job on sticking to your diet plan. 🙂
I would definitely have helped with that review! We are always looking for new chocolate brands to try…thanks for sharing!
Perfect for holiday gifts and treats! I love using chocolate molds and making sweet treats for the neighbors!
Minta – I don’t believe they have any white chocolate but that’s a favorite of mine too! And, you guys can help with my chocolate reviews any time! 😉
