Sambucol "Immunity Boosting Basket" – Review & Giveaway

What is Sambucol?

My Take:

Sambucol sent me an “Immunity Boosting Basket” of my own to try out. I received one bottle of chewable tablets, one bottle of the original liquid formula, and one bottles of their liquid formula for kids. Sambucol is billed as a supplement for boosting immunity, but it’s important to note that these statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, nor is it intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Likewise, the information in this post is simply a recounting of my own personal experience and not intended as medical advice. Always consult your physician before taking any supplements.

I really like the flavor of these products – I hate the taste of most supplements, so I appreciated the nice berry flavor. My favorite to take is the original liquid; the kid’s formula is pretty similar, except the flavor is sweeter. The chewable tablets were very tart, reminding me a little of blackcurrant candies. Both the chewable tablet and kid’s formula also contain Vitamin C.

I’m skeptical by nature, and my personal take on these sort of products is that I don’t think they’re a magic cure – but I also don’t think that it hurts to have a little vitamin boost when I’m feeling under the weather, either. I usually take something like this when I start to feel sick, if only for the placebo effect of feeling like I’m doing something about it – indeed, one of my favorite things to take for a cold, Airborne, has also not been evaluated by the FDA.
