My Take
My house is plastered in posters, so the idea of making my own was really appealing. The hardest part of the poster making process was making up my mind as to what to use! I hemmed and hawed, looking through folders of different photos. So many possibilities! Finally, I decided that I’d like to make a poster of one of my travel photos, and hang it above the mantle. I found this photo of La Tour Eiffel that was taken during a trip there in 2004. I went onto PostersPrinting.com, selected my size preferences, and uploaded the photo.
Now, the thing I love about this photo is the lighting – because the lights on the tower are slightly blurry, it looks almost like a watercolor painting. PostersPrinting graded my photo an “F”, and warned me that it would probably look bad. But since the lighting is part of this photo’s charm, I decided to take a chance and do it anyway. I ordered the poster and hoped it wasn’t a mistake.
When my poster arrived, I unwrapped it excitedly….
Wow! This looks totally awesome! It’s very high quality – nothing lo-res or blurry about it. This captures the warmth and beauty of the photo perfectly, and while I’m sure a higher-resolution photo would be even crisper, I love this because it’s a special memory to me.
Doesn’t that look great over the mantle? I want to get a frame for this, because it would look really nice framed up. In the meantime, I hung it up with tape so as not to damage it – so if you see any waviness in the poster, it’s because it’s taped on and not flat against the wall. I just couldn’t wait to put it up!
