Review & Giveaway: Big City Coffee

I am a coffee fiend. I always enjoy a few cups of joe during the day, and I adore everything about it – I think a morning without coffee is a sad morning indeed. And if you love coffee as much as I do, you are in luck – because one lucky Contest Corner reader will win a 12oz bag of Chickadee Brand coffee from Big City Coffee!

What is Big City Coffee?

According to the “About Us” section of their website, “Big City Coffee imports, roasts and distributes Certified Organic, Fair Trade and Ethically Sourced gourmet coffee from small estates, owner-managed farms and co-ops from fine coffee-growing regions around the world.”

My Take:

I decided to review the Tiki Club Organic Island Blend Coffee, because it’s described as having a “heady bouquet, chocolaty finish and classic hints of spice and caramel.” That sounded right up my alley!
When the coffee arrived, I opened the bag and was greeted by a wonderful aroma. I love the smell of coffee – if it were a perfume, I might just wear it. I enjoyed the scent for a while, then went about the business of brewing it. After I poured my first cup, I added some half and half and took my first sip. Mmmmm.
This is a perfect blend for my tastes. It’s so smooth and has a wonderful flavor – you know when you get a cup of coffee that’s just right, and isn’t too strong or too weak? Well, I had that moment of coffee Nirvana and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve served it to two other people so far, and it’s gone over well with everyone.

Another thing I love about this coffee is that it is Fair Trade Certified. This means that stringent guidelines were met regarding the conditions of the workers producing this coffee, including fair wages, fair labor conditions, sustainability, and so much more. It is also certified USDA Organic. Buying fair trade products is really important to me, because it enables me to support ethical practices with my grocery purchases – so I love that Big City Coffee supports this also.

Win it!

One lucky reader will win a 12oz bag of Chickadee Brand coffee! Big City Coffee describe this as “Traditional New Orleans roast with chickory. Delicate undertones of chocolate and pecan give this organic gourmet coffee a luxurious body and delightful aroma.” Sounds delicious!
