If your house has as many electronics as mine does, then you are well aware of the power that they use and the impact that this has – both on your pocketbook and the planet. So Contest Corner and Belkin have teamed up to bring you a special Earth Day giveaway – one lucky winner will receive a Belkin Conserve Surge Protector (a $49.99 value)!
About The Belkin Conserve:
From Belkin.com:
“Belkin’s Conserve Energy-Saving Surge Protector conveniently minimizes standby power by enabling you to turn off the power to multiple devices with just one click of the remote switch. The remote switch easily cuts off or activates the power that flows to devices plugged into Conserve’s Switchable outlets, while devices such as DVRs or Routers can be plugged into the Always-On outlets, since they require a continuous power supply.
Most home electronics continue to use energy, even when you’ve turned them off. This wasted energy is known as Standby Power, which adds up fast. Standby Power impacts not only the environment, but also your electricity bill, as it can account for up to 10% of your household power consumption.”
My Take:
With all the electricity that we use, I was very interested to test out the Conserve. I decided to try it on my entertainment center, because that’s an area where I know a lot of devices suck up power needlessly.
Once we hooked it up and mounted it on the wall, I plugged my answering machine and cordless phone charger into the “always on” slots, while the TV and DVD were plugged into the “switchable” outlets. Since those devices are off most of the time, this seems like a great way to save power. I also love that the Conserve comes with a clip to keep the cords nice and tidy!
I mounted the remote switch on the wall, right next to the light switch. This way, I can try to remember to turn it off when I’m leaving the house.
I think the Conserve is a great idea – I’ll be interested to see if I notice any difference on my power bill. Either way, saving energy is always better for the planet!
Save Some Green:
Belkin is running a special discount throughout the month of April in honor of Earth Day. If you purchase a Conserve unit through Belkin.com before April 30th, you can save $15 by using promo code earthday09. (Note: This discount only applies to the single purchase of the Conserve.)

I think it is very cool. I like this: “RF Technology – Wireless and powerful enough to reach through walls and objects, so that you can place Conserve behind cabinets or under furniture, as needed”. That makes it even more convenient to use.
My husband need this with all the electronics that he has! Thanks for a great giveaway and a chance to win!
I like that Cable management Clip – Keep power cords tidy and out of the way.

Sorry I deleted my first comment because I forgot to leave my email.
I really like the remote control feature. I’m for anything that helps save time on the little chores, while still saving energy and money. The surge protector would be great because we just had one get burned up by multiple large power surges. We have a pretty big problem with that where we live.
This is a brilliant product!
I love that it can control many devices from one spot!
Much easier than unplugging and plugging in different things all of the time and much more power efficient!
Thanks

Some of the best features of the Belkin Conserve Surge Protector are the mix of both “always-on” and “switched” outlets, the 1000 Joules and $100,000 Connected Equipment Warranty, and the convenience of a wireless remote.
