My recipe works as both creative cooking as well as a kid-friendly recipe. I present to you: Rainbow Rice!
How to Make Rainbow Rice
What You’ll Need:
White rice
Water
Food coloring
4 bowls
Ice cream scooper
Fork
Preparation:
Make a bag of white rice on the stovetop or in the rice cooker according to directions. Once the rice is finished, divide it up equally between four bowls.
Take a bottle of food coloring and add several drops to the rice.
Using a fork, mix the rice thoroughly until the food coloring is distributed.
Now take your ice cream scooper and scoop the rice onto a plate in a small ball.
Repeat this process with each bowl of rice, using a different color each time. Arrange each scoop of rice on the plate in a curved fashion to create a “Rainbow”.
And voilà ! You have a rice rainbow!
This is a simple, fun activity to both entertain kids and encourage them to eat their food – a little novelty and bright colors seem to go a long way to convince picky eaters to enjoy their dinner! With St. Patrick’s Day coming up, this would be a fun way to create a “Pot of Gold” themed meal – you could even stir-fry cabbage and squash to create a grassy knoll and gold underneath the “Rainbow”!
To access more recipes for fun, be sure to visit the Clorox® Clean-Up® Recipes For Fun website. Remember, you could win prizes instantly just by checking out these fun ideas! My kids would love to make this. Thanks for sharing!
I wonder if you could do this with uncooked rice and have a cool craft project to play with? Certainly brightens up the plate!
Well, that is cool. What a great way to get the kids to eat rice. I wonder if it would work as well with brown rice?
This looks really fun!
What a fun idea!! I bet kids would love this!
