About Piggy Paint:
Piggy Paint founder Melanie Hurley was inspired to start the business because of her two little girls. Her daughters love painting their nails, but Hurley didn’t love the chemicals found in most nail polishes. So she created Piggy Paint, a water-based nail polish that is non-toxic, odorless, and hypoallergenic.
My Take:
Piggy Paint was created for little girls, but I think anyone who wants an alternative to traditional nail polish would like this! I tried out the Tea Party For Two nailpolish and a bottle of the Piggy Paint Nail Polish Remover, and I was impressed by how well they both worked. The first thing I did was give them the “Wiff test”; and sure enough, they are truly odorless. Anytime I’ve ever used traditional nail polish remover, it’s made the whole house stink for hours. But I was a little skeptical of how well the Piggy Paint remover would work – would it only remove the mild-mannered Piggy Paint nail polish, or would it take off traditional polishes, also? I found that it worked well on both counts; I had to rub a little bit harder to remove polish using the Piggy Paint formula, but I was surprised at how effective it was. I think traditional nail polish remover is a little more potent, but Piggy Paint’s version still does the job, and I think it’s a great alternative for anyone who wants to nix chemicals.
I also really like the Piggy Paint polish. I enjoy the bright color, and have worn it many times since receiving it. It’s quite thick – the bottle says you can water it down, but I prefer the thick formula because I find it easier to apply. According to the directions, you should use a blow-dryer to set the polish in order to prevent flaking; and it does work much better when you do this, but I often found myself swiping one quick coat on my toenails and dashing out of the house before it had even set, and thought it held up quite well considering. It does seem to chip a little faster than some other polishes because of the thickness of the formula, but it may very well stay on longer if you water it down.
So whether you have little girls, or just want to doll yourself up without knocking yourself out, I would recommend trying out Piggy Paint for your hooves!
