We’ve all heard of children’s vitamins before – who could forget those Flinstone Kids commercials? – but did you know that there is now a special fiber supplement for little ones, called Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies? And one lucky Contest Corner reader will win a bottle of Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies, so read on!
About Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies:
Here is some information on Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies from their press release:
“In 2009 the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) significantly increased the recommended daily fiber intake standards, far above the previous “age plus five” rule. In fact, today’s updated guidelines recommend 25 grams of fiber per day for four-year-old children. But how do we meet these requirements and get our children to eat high in fiber foods?
Now there’s a delicious daily fiber supplement to help kids ages 2-11 maintain better digestive health and stay regular.* The penguin-shaped, great tasting Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies are sugar-free, calorie-free, gluten-free and made with natural fruit flavors. With a recommended serving of three gummies every day, (equal to ½ cup of broccoli!), Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies are a great way to supplement the fiber found in fruits, vegetables and other fiber-rich foods in your child’s daily diet. It’s a great solution to help bridge the gap between the American Academy of Pediatrics recommended amount of fiber and the fiber that kids actually consume in their daily diet. Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies are also dentist approved.
Suggested retail price is $7.99 for a bottle of 60 gummies; available at Target and Walgreens, also online and at other supermarkets and retailers nationwide.
* This statement has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.”
My take:
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: There’s no substitute for a healthy lifestyle, but I don’t mind supplementing my diet when possible. So I actually decided to review these Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies myself! I figured that giving my diet a little boost couldn’t hurt; and they taste just like regular gummi bears, so it’s the most enjoyable supplement I’ve ever taken! I would not have known that these were anything other than candy if you hadn’t told me – so parents, make sure you store these somewhere where the kids won’t find them. Otherwise they will probably eat half the bottle in one sitting!

I learned that if you don’t drink enough water while taking extra fiber that it will just cause constipation. Yipes!
Fiber creates softer, bulkier stools that are easy to pass by absorbing many times their weight in water. It promotes contractions that keep food moving through the intestine.
