Tropical Traditions carry a wide range of products, from food to beauty items. I always enjoy trying new things from their wide line of goods, so when they asked if I would like to receive a complimentary bag of Organic Whole Golden Flaxseed to review, I was happy to take them up on it. And one lucky Contest Corner reader will also win a 1-lb bag of Organic Whole Golden Flaxseed, so read on!
My take:
I was very interested to try out the whole golden flaxseed, because it sounded like a versatile way to add flavor to a variety of dishes. You can add it to almost anything, from yogurt and smoothies to stir-frys; you can even make cookies with it! When my flaxseed arrived, I was about to make egg salad wraps for lunch. I had a hunch that I could probably stir some right into the egg filling, and sure enough, a quick Google search took me to this “Low Fat Egg Salad Sandwich With Flaxseed” recipe. I added 3 tablespoons flaxseed to 8 hardboiled eggs, stirred in mustard, relish, and seasonings, then spooned into tortillas. I used the whole seeds instead of grinding them, and it was yummy! This afternoon, I scooped the leftover egg mixture on top of red leaf lettuce for a nice salad, and sprinkled a few flaxseeds on top for a nice finishing touch.
I also spooned the flaxseed into my morning cereal, which made a nice addition. And since flaxseed is high in fiber, I feel like it’s a good way to give my meals a little boost. What surprised me the most about this product is that flaxseed is so flavorful – both Jai and I found it to be tasty. In fact, he likes how the whole golden flaxseed tastes straight from the bag!
