If you’re a coffee fanatic like me, you probably have a lot of coffee accessories: Grinders, espresso machines, or perhaps a favorite mug. But how do you store your coffee? If you’re just sticking your coffee in the cupboard, then I have a giveaway that will not only help to keep your coffee fresh, but add a great decor touch as well! One lucky Contest Corner reader will win a vintage glass coffee jar from Eight O’Clock Coffee, so read on!
Eight O’Clock Coffee recently uncovered a great surprise in their Maryland roasting facility. The coffee company found a stash of vintage glass coffee jars bearing the the brand’s old logo, and according to their press release, “Eight O’Clock Coffee has been in the business of selecting, roasting and packaging coffee for over 150 years. The treasure trove of jars are both a piece of history AND a great way to store your ground or whole bean coffee.” So what to do with all of these jars? Eight O’Clock Coffee decided that they would give them away to their fans! How cool is that?
I was a recipient of one of these lovely jars, and I think it’s so cool. I love vintage items anyway, and this is a nice solid jar that is perfect for storing coffee. I currently keep my coffee in some plastic Tupperware-style containers that I got free with a coffee purchase at the grocery store a few years ago, and they’ve been so useful. This is a welcome addition to my coffee cupboard, since I usually have a few coffee bags hanging around at a time. 😉 Plus, this jar has a rubberized seal around the lid and looks like it will do a great job of storing my precious coffee bags.
Along with my jar, I also received a bag of Eight O’Clock Coffee’s original blend. I’ve bought Eight O’Clock Coffee on Amazon before and enjoyed both the taste and the price; but I’ve only tried their flavored blends, so I was eager to see what the original would taste like. I am drinking a cup now, and I can tell you that I am not disappointed! Eight O’Clock Coffee’s original blend has a bold, strong flavor while still being smooth and drinkable. I have a feeling I won’t be storing this bag in my new jar for very long, because I think I’ll be drinking it all pretty quickly! 😉
Eight ‘O Clock Coffee also sent along a few tips for optimal coffee storage:
- Keep your unused coffee beans or grounds fresh by storing in an air-tight container.
- Store your coffee in a cool, dry place and out of direct sunlight.
- Avoid freezing—this can break down the flavorful oils in the beans and cause condensation, which makes the coffee go stale faster.

I store my coffee in a plastic container with a locking lid. It came free with a bag of coffee. For some reason, my husband likes to put it in the freezer.

I usually reseal the bag. Of course, that means I have to use it soon or it will be stale! this would be perfect.
I grind my own coffee – so I store the beans in a tight;y closed ziplock bag in a cool place – then I grind a few days worth of coffee & store in a “Click-lock” type container… I would LOVE this one!!!((1955nursehjc4me(at)myway(dot)com))
