Goal Weight: 158 lbs
Jai’s measurements this week were 13″ on the arms, 40″ on the chest, 39″ on the waist, 37.5″ on the thips, and 20.5″ on the thighs. That’s .5″ up on the chest, 1″ up on the waist,.5″ down on the hips, and 1.5″ down on the thighs, with the arm measurements remaining the same since last week.
This week, I lost .4 pounds while Jai lost 2.4 pounds! Not only was this a great weight loss week for Jai, but getting back into the 170s is a big milestone for him. The last time he was this weight was during his black belt test in martial arts, which was 8 years ago. A few friends commented on his weight loss this week, with one saying that she wouldn’t even recognize him if she ran into him in a store. He’s doing so awesome!
Mine was a much more modest week at .4 pounds, but a loss is a loss right? Last week was difficult because I got sick, and Jai got a touch of it too. On the worst day I was getting the chills and we both were uncharacteristically hungry all day. I said it must be a cold and not a flu, since you “Feed a cold”. 😉 Anyway, during this day we both ate a little more of our SmartCarbs and PowerFuels than recommended. And wouldn’t you know it, on this same day I received another shipment of chocolate for review. I’ve been good about indulging in moderation when I receive treats in the mail like this, but since we were both feeling sickly and hungry, my cravings were totally out of whack and all bets were off! So between the over-eating and not taking my walk for two days due to feeling sick, I was really concerned for this week, but I made an effort to get back on track right away so that it wouldn’t negate my progress.
In other news, I had a doctor’s appointment on Thursday to discuss the state of my knee injury recovery. Since my progress has been going well, he just told me to keep doing what I’m doing and come back if progress halts or if it starts to get worse. My plan is to continue taking longer and longer walks, and I’ve also been challenging myself by walking up steep hills and trying different things to work on my knee flexibility. The main challenge at the moment is that I do still experience some pain and have to sit down because of it sometimes, and I also can’t do certain things, like kneeling or squatting all the way down, aerobics, etc. However, the nice thing is that now when I experience pain, it actually goes away after a day or two and doesn’t slow my overall progress. So, I’m just taking it one “Step” at a time – pun fully intended! – and continuing to challenge myself as appropriate. I feel confident that, barring any disasters, I should be able to resume my gym membership by the new year. Here’s to continued progress and week 18!

Even with the little extra that you took in, you still lost so that’s fantastic!
I think that is great how well you are doing. I wouldn’t worry about having an off week now and then. I can tell a big difference between when you first started. 🙂
That’s tremendous!! You’re doing so good!
Great job! Keep it up. I bet you will hit your goal weight in no time!
You are doing great. Glad to hear the doc says to keep doing it. You know your limitations!
Great job! I love reading your posts. So inspiring!
I love that little tracker. Great job! It’s fun following you as you make progress.
I am so proud of you two! I want to try Nutrisystem so bad but I am so scared to make that investment because I have terrible will power. I’m enjoying reading about the journey you two are on to get healhthier!
I love that you were able to recognize you over-indulged and get right back on the wagon. I’m sorry you’re having knee trouble. My right knee has been feeling “full” lately, that sensation that builds up and then eventually pops, but there’s no pop. It’s not painful, but uncomfortable. Congratulations to the both of you!
I love that you keep going. I love reading your updates.
I know you both have to be excited about the New You emerging. I love that your keeping us up dated and that your doing so well.
It’s funny…. I was sick a couple weeks ago and was more hungry then I usually am too! I made a big pot of homemade chicken soup and that totally hit the spot!
Congrats to you both for the great work you’ve been doing on the program!
every little .4 pounds counts! Keep on going! Congrats!
17 weeks, already!? the time is flying and girl…so are you!
The flu is the worst ! Who cares about rules and being have when you can’t hold your lunch? A loss is a loss is a loss is a loss…..is a loss!
