Would you like to trim your budget and start saving more money, but don’t know where to start? Or perhaps you’re already living a frugal lifestyle, but are always on the lookout for new ideas? Either way, you will want to read The Money Saving Mom’s Budget: Slash Your Spending, Pay Down Your Debt, Streamline Your Life, and Save Thousands a Year by Crystal Paine. And FIVE lucky Contest Corner readers will each win a copy of this book, so read on!
If you read my other site, Super Coupon Girl, then you will have heard me mention Crystal Paine’s blog, Money Saving Mom, many times. I started reading her site in 2008 when I began clipping coupons, and it’s one of my favorite blogs; I check it almost every day. I’ve written guest posts for Money Saving Mom a couple of times, and Crystal is among my favorite blog acquaintances. Although she and I have very different backgrounds and lives, we have a great deal in common: We were both homeschooled and grew up in very alternatively frugal households, which shaped our attitudes and lives as adults. Our paths have been similar in a lot of ways so I always enjoy hearing about her endeavors and frugal successes. When Crystal announced that she was writing a book, I was so excited to read it! I received a promotional copy of her upcoming book, The Money Saving Mom’s Budget for review, and I loved it.
The Money Saving Mom’s Budget: Slash Your Spending, Pay Down Your Debt, Streamline Your Life, and Save Thousands a Year is a how-to manual for anyone with an interest in saving money. Crystal is a great writer who outlines frugal strategies in a manner that is concise, easy-to-read, and entertaining. This book outlines common-sense strategies and tips for stretching your budget and changing your financial situation, and dispels some of the common myths about frugal living. The Money Saving Mom’s Budget is practical and encouraging, suggesting strategies for realistic and long-term change rather than touting a get-rick-quick scheme or some magic cure-all fix. For example, I love the fact that Crystal emphasizes the importance of getting chaos and clutter in your life under control before attempting to set a budget or clip coupons, devoting a chapter to practical, doable advice for getting organized. All the frugal recipes in the world won’t help you if your crockpot is buried under a pile of dishes and you’re too exhausted and frazzled to bother cooking anyway!
Since my frugal lifestyle already mirrors Crystal’s in many ways, much of this book was preaching to the choir, but it’s a fantastic, helpful and refreshing read no matter how much of a coupon-clipping diva you already are. There are so many great tips, suggestions, and websites listed in here that everyone can benefit from it and glean new ideas! And if you want to pare down your expenses but have no clue where to start, this book will be a fabulous resource for you. The Money Saving Mom’s Budget is packed with common sense, workable strategies, and a plethora of money-saving hints. You can pick and choose from the ideas listed, or completely overhaul your whole fiscal approach; it’s up to you. I highly recommend this book to everyone!
Also, you may be interested to know that all of the proceeds from this book are being donated to Compassion International, one of Crystal’s favorite charities.

Sounds like a wonderful book to read when one first gets married. Great way to start managing money from the beginning. As most people know, money is the #1 reason for divorce. I would love to win one for my son and daughter-in-law who just married over Labor Day. Then, I would only have to buy one book for my other son and his fiance who are getting married in June.
I am a stay-at-home Mom of 4. I love using coupons and shopping sales to make our household budget S.T.R.E.T.C.H. Would love to wina copy of The Money Saving Mom’s Budget. It’s right up my alley! Thanks!

I’ve followed MSM for a while, but in true cheapskate fashion I’m hesitant to buy the book because I’m concerned there’s nothing in there I haven’t read on the blog. winning it though, gives me the best of both worlds!
Would love to read this because I really, really need to do more to save for my kids’ education, for major household repairs, and for the unexpected. Any new tips I can learn are so helpful…
I would love a copy of Crystal’s book. When I first started looking for ways to save money and tips for couponing her blog was the first one I found. I’ve been reading daily since. I can’t wait to learn more says to save.
Being a single mom, now working (outside the home as well), this book would be a great resource to help get my life and the kids in some type of order. This would give me practical ideas I could implement. I can actually have something in hand; don’t have access to computer. Feel I often miss out on money-saving ideas as well. Possibly I will be out of bondage soon!!!
I’d love to have a copy of this book! I got married this summer, and we’re trying to be very careful with our money. 🙂
It was by the grace of God I found your website last week. Your new book was in my recommendataions from Amazon. I googled your name and found your site. Then through your site I found out about Dave Ramsey and his books. My life is in a financial crisis right now and the timing was a God thing! I just found out I have to return to work after being a stay at home mom for 8 years! I have not been completely aware of our financial situation until I pulled my head out of the sand and started looking at them. I am making a budget for us to live off of and trying to save anywhere I can! Going back to work is probably one of the hardest things I have had to do in life because of how much I value being a stay at home mom. So any help, especially free help, I can get right now that will give ideas to save money and manage finances is welcomed with open arms. My way of thinking is that every dollar I can save is a dollar less I have to work, allowing me to be home more. Even if I don’t “win” the book, I feel God has blessed me incredibly with your site and direction toward Dave Ramsey. Thank you!
Following Dave Ramsey’s program and continue to work on baby step #2-paying down that debt! I would love to help my family even more by finding ways to cut item spending in our budget such as food and clothing. Besides the fact that I just LOVE to read this book would be a great share with my MOPS group!

I would like to have both the books because, I feel they would be of great help to my family, but I can’t afford to buy them. My only other option is to wait until the library has them available.
