Would you like to trim your budget and start saving more money, but don’t know where to start? Or perhaps you’re already living a frugal lifestyle, but are always on the lookout for new ideas? Either way, you will want to read The Money Saving Mom’s Budget: Slash Your Spending, Pay Down Your Debt, Streamline Your Life, and Save Thousands a Year by Crystal Paine. And FIVE lucky Contest Corner readers will each win a copy of this book, so read on!
If you read my other site, Super Coupon Girl, then you will have heard me mention Crystal Paine’s blog, Money Saving Mom, many times. I started reading her site in 2008 when I began clipping coupons, and it’s one of my favorite blogs; I check it almost every day. I’ve written guest posts for Money Saving Mom a couple of times, and Crystal is among my favorite blog acquaintances. Although she and I have very different backgrounds and lives, we have a great deal in common: We were both homeschooled and grew up in very alternatively frugal households, which shaped our attitudes and lives as adults. Our paths have been similar in a lot of ways so I always enjoy hearing about her endeavors and frugal successes. When Crystal announced that she was writing a book, I was so excited to read it! I received a promotional copy of her upcoming book, The Money Saving Mom’s Budget for review, and I loved it.
The Money Saving Mom’s Budget: Slash Your Spending, Pay Down Your Debt, Streamline Your Life, and Save Thousands a Year is a how-to manual for anyone with an interest in saving money. Crystal is a great writer who outlines frugal strategies in a manner that is concise, easy-to-read, and entertaining. This book outlines common-sense strategies and tips for stretching your budget and changing your financial situation, and dispels some of the common myths about frugal living. The Money Saving Mom’s Budget is practical and encouraging, suggesting strategies for realistic and long-term change rather than touting a get-rick-quick scheme or some magic cure-all fix. For example, I love the fact that Crystal emphasizes the importance of getting chaos and clutter in your life under control before attempting to set a budget or clip coupons, devoting a chapter to practical, doable advice for getting organized. All the frugal recipes in the world won’t help you if your crockpot is buried under a pile of dishes and you’re too exhausted and frazzled to bother cooking anyway!
Since my frugal lifestyle already mirrors Crystal’s in many ways, much of this book was preaching to the choir, but it’s a fantastic, helpful and refreshing read no matter how much of a coupon-clipping diva you already are. There are so many great tips, suggestions, and websites listed in here that everyone can benefit from it and glean new ideas! And if you want to pare down your expenses but have no clue where to start, this book will be a fabulous resource for you. The Money Saving Mom’s Budget is packed with common sense, workable strategies, and a plethora of money-saving hints. You can pick and choose from the ideas listed, or completely overhaul your whole fiscal approach; it’s up to you. I highly recommend this book to everyone!
Also, you may be interested to know that all of the proceeds from this book are being donated to Compassion International, one of Crystal’s favorite charities.

We’re always looking for ways to trim the budget and use finances more wisely!
Crystal’s website has been instrumental in changing my views on money. Prior to finding her, David Ramsey, and couponing, I didn’t have a frugal bone in my body – unless buying an entire rack of clearance clothes on credit because ‘it was such a great deal!’ counts. Though I’ve learned much on this journey, there’s always room for improvement. I will always have a problem with shopping addiction, but the tools that Crystal gives helps me overcome those urges so that my family can have financial peace.
I would love this book!
