Top Ten With Stokley Williams of Mint Condition
I’m inspired by:
EVERYDAY PEOPLE/KIDS ESPECIALLY
I realized I wanted to play music when:
WHEN I TAPED MYSELF ON A CASSETTE TAPE & HEARD IT BACK…FELT LIKE I MET MYSELF FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Four songs you might find on my iPod:
MUSIC FROM BRAZIL, AFRICA, AFRICA & WEST INDIES
One word I would use to describe myself:
ECLECTIC
The best part of being a musician is:
BEING ABLE TO SWITCH ANYTHING I’M DOING MIDSTREAM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY…for the most part. IN OTHER WORDS, TIME FLEXIBILITY OR CALLING MY OWN HOURS…again for the most part (kids)
Right now, I’m most excited about:
THE RELEASE OF THIS LATEST MINT CD… AND THE FUTURE!
Something most people don’t know about me is:
I LIKE TO COOK…but don’t make time for it anymore.
One of my happiest moments was:
GETTING MY 1st DRUM SET AS A KID!
My music is:
INTROSPECTIVE, SPIRITUAL, ENERGETIC & A LIL’ QUIRKY.
In ten years, I see myself:
DOING MUSICAL DIRECTION FOR FILMS, TV. MAYBE SOME ACTING…BE IT THEATRE OR TV/FILM…PRODUCING NEW & ESTABLISHED ARTISTS AS WELL AS DEVELOPING THEM..SELLING SOME KIND OF APPAREL OF MY OWN, MORE MC MUSIC IF WE SO CHOOSE. CLOSE TO GETTING ONE KID THRU COLLEGE & THE OTHER OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL INTO COLLEGE. THERE IS MUCH MORE OF COURSE.
Music @ The Speed Of Life drops today, September 11th, 2012 – pick up your copy now on iTunes, Amazon, or in stores. Keep up with the latest album and tour info by visiting MintConditionMusic.com and following the band on Twitter and Facebook.
What a great Q & A. Mint Condition is a great group!
I used to like one of their songs years ago.
I honestly didn’t know they were still together! I distinctly remember pressing repeat all the time on one of their songs YEARS and YEARS ago!
i love your interviews!!
i didn’t press repeat- i had to REWIND stuff. *dork*
Brett – the worst part is when you pressed rewind and accidentally hit the “Record” button instead of play. Then the cassette would have a dropout on it. 😉
Thanks for stopping by, everyone!
Love the interview and the video! It has a great rhythm!
I love reading these 10 ten posts. I’m always introduced to new artists I’ve (usually) never heard of before.
I haven’t heard of this group before but I’ll bet the Diva has! Thanks for introduction!
I love that one of his happiest moments was getting a drum set as a kid. 8 albums, that’s pretty impressive!
I was laughing about the being able to call his own hours when he said “mostly”, because of his kids- SO true!
Great Q&A! I remember recording stuff on tape cassettes back in the day..lol!
Great questions and I enjoyed reading the answers. Fun interview.
Those are some brave parents to give a drum set to a kid!!
