I have a confession: Until the last year or so, I really didn’t care for Mike And Ike candies. I usually prefer my confections to be in chocolate form, but recently I’ve gained an appreciation for fruity types of candy that I might have passed over before. So when I received a package of the newest Mike And Ike candies, I was eager to give them a taste! Actually, this is a case of “Everything old is new again”, because this recent offering from the company is actually a throwback to past flavors. Cherri And Bub was initially released in 1989 and Lem And Mel was introduced in 1991. Both have been brought back by popular demand and packaged in fun “Retro” packaging. Childhood me might have been “Meh” on these, but adult me enjoyed them! The sweet taste of cherries and bubblegum actually goes together pretty well (I used to think bubblegum flavored food was a little weird) and the lemon/watermelon duo is a bright citrus-y treat. I keep munching and munching on these until I finally had to take them outside and put them in the car so I’d stop snacking on them. Ha!
These special throwback flavors will only be available through April, so look for them in stores and visit MikeAndIke.com for more info.
Awww…nothing like a classic. I love me some Cherri and Bubb!
Mmmmm, Mike and Ikes! The lemon and watermelon are my thing. I think I still have your childhood feeling of bubble gum flavored food being weird though!
I try to stay away from candy but can never acomplish that goal when Easter and Valentine’s Day come along. I would certainly give these a try. They sound like neat flavors.
my kids would love those…I try hard to keep the candy out of my house or I eat it!
