Yesterday, I shared an organizational project I tackled in my bedroom this week. While I was at it, I thought it would be a good time to re-organize a few other clutter hotspots. You see, I had received a box of complimentary samples from the new Martha Stewart Home Office With Avery line. This collection of office supplies boasts elegant office supplies to get you organized. I just love anything chic, and I loved the idea of anything that can help me emulate home guru Martha!
One of the first products I was eager to try was a unique storage box from the Stack+Fit Desk Accessories category. This tray/drawer has two removable boxes which fit on the top, providing small compartments for whatever you need to store. Most people would probably use this for their office to store bills, paperclips, and that sort of thing; but I had a more unique application. I used it to store my jewelry!
You see, I’ve never had a really good place to store my jewelry. I have a few jewelry boxes, but they weren’t enough to hold everything…hence these ugly boxes on my dresser.
I have a jewelry box on my nightstand, along with a few others at the bottom, plus some bags with costume jewelry/bangles in them. (And yes, that is a wig on my guitar! ;))
And another bag tucked behind the jewelry box! The bags and cardboard boxes look terrible and have bugged me for a long time. I’d been meaning to install hooks on the wall and get it re-organized, but there simply has been no time; so I thought putting my jewelry in this box would be a more efficient way to get things cleared up in the meantime.
I put all of my delicate pieces of jewelery into the box for safekeeping. Most of the room in that giant basket was being taken up by these pieces, just because I had no good way to store them without it getting all tangled up – the compartments in this organizer make better use of the space, and free up my basket for other things:
With all the delicate pieces tucked away safely in my Stack+Fit box, I was able to fully utilize the basket for my costume jewelry pieces – plastic bracelets, headbands, spiky goth chokers, and that sort of thing. All these pieces are solid plastic, so they won’t get damaged by this type of storage!
The Stack+Fit organizer with my delicate pieces fit perfectly on the nightstand. By the way, I had no idea that corner was dusty until I was editing that photo. I’m sorry Martha! I’ve failed you! 😉
With my jewelry now safely housed in this box and my basket, the bottom of the nightstand is now clear of those pesky plastic bags!
I moved my other jewelry box onto a shelf, and I like it so much better there. It’s so pretty and much better appreciated at eye level.
The whole room looks better as a result!
And I didn’t stop with jewelry – I also used Martha’s Dry Erase Weekly Planner on the wall by my desk. This is really unique, because the planner is made of a decal that can be stuck and removed on the wall – kind of like those Colorforms we used to play with as kids! I’m very visual and rely heavily on calendars, so this will be useful to me. I like the dry-erase feature, as it will help me brainstorm my blog post schedule and move things around on the fly.
Below the weekly planner, you’ll also notice a Martha Stewart Home Office notebook. I use so many notebooks for all my work projects, so I know this will come in handy!
I also used a Shagreen Accordion File to better store the exercise sheets my physiotherapist gave me – note the tubing and resistance bands next to the accordion folder!
Finally, I received a few other items that will be super handy to have around: Vertical File Folders (Which don’t fit in my particular filing cabinet, but I use these for when I need to carry files in my purse and also in boxes) and a Heavy Paper Binder, as well as unique and erasable Chalkboard Labels and Metal-Rim Tags, both of which will be really handy for organizing boxes and/or items for eBay.

I love that basket, and you used it so creatively! You made me realize that I need to get that dry erase weekly planner too. How helpful is that?!
I’ve been on a major reorganize and de-junk mission, too! Keep up the good work!
I love that basket!!
Wow, that Martha Stewart stuff is so cool! I need to get to Staples and check out her stuff!
very nice project! I need a lot of organization in my space right now. Seems like I am never on top of things. Hope it helps…everything is really attractive!
lovely! i need to organize my organization products. i have many. i just never finish. i’m too disorganized. 🙂
I want that Martha set. My desk is a terrible mess all the time. I’m always finding lost papers, LEGOS (do these thing breed at night or something?) and books all over the place, and I haven’t even included my blogging stuff in that equation!
What a great box for jewelry. This all looks great. I need to get our bedroom organized. I’ll have to look for some of these items for us.
I LOVE this line! We don’t have a Staples here locally, but it’s a “must stop” place for our next trip to Phoenix! I have a $25 gift card that’s burning a hole in my wallet and it’s marked for Martha Stewart Home office products. 🙂
I saw the Martha Stewart line at Blogher and I loved it. Please come organize my home when you are done. You’ve always wanted to visit Georgia, I know! 🙂
I love organization. You did a great job.
I love how you used the stack+fit! I have one on my desk but am totally considering getting another for my jewelry. Great job!
