Back-to-School With iStorage datAshur PRO+C: Review

Product provided for review.

As we go into Labor Day weekend tomorrow, we say goodbye to the last days of summer vacation and pick up those final items on the back-to-school shopping list. A new school year means it’s out with the old and in with the new – and it doesn’t get much newer than the iStorage datAshur PRO+C. The latest in iStorage’s line of encrypted flash drives, the datAshur PRO+C is on the cutting edge as the world’s sole flash drive awaiting validation for FIPS 140-3 Level 3 certification. I’ve been a fan of iStorage products for years now, so I couldn’t wait to check it out!

Since launching our Teacher Feature series, I’ve been particularly cognizant of products that would be useful for the back-to-school season. Whether you are a student, teacher, or a parent keeping track of school documents, we are truly in the digital age of education, so having a flash drive that keeps your important information secure is critical. The iStorage datAshur Pro+ C flash drive does just that, with PIN protection and hardware encryption that safeguards data to military-grade standards. So if your college student forgets their flash drive in the campus library, you don’t have to worry about identity thieves skimming their information!

datAshur PRO+C Unboxing

For my own stress test on the iStorage datAshur PRO+ C, I thought I’d see how it handled my daily website chores. After a quick unboxing, I was able to set mine up within minutes. Although the datAshur PRO+ C has top-of-the-line security that rivals what James Bond gets from Q, it is extremely simple and clear to set up. The instructions are very straightforward and quick to follow, so you don’t need to be a tech wizard to understand how to use this.

For my first test, I thought I’d try moving over the video files from the unboxing – talk about inception! I filmed the unboxing video on my phone, and it’s often a pain trying to move large files off my phone and onto my computer. The datAshur PRO+ C plugged right into my phone, and I was able to transfer almost 2 GB worth of raw video files in seconds. I then plugged the datAshur PRO+ C into my laptop to transfer the video onto my harddrive for editing, and once again, the task was complete in seconds. I was very impressed by this, because transferring large videos onto my computer is one of those tasks that can take a while. The datAshur PRO+ C is able to make short work of these tasks because it boasts data transfer speeds of 310MB/s Read & 246MB/s Write. In layman’s terms: It makes things really efficient and saves time!

Jai and I have owned a lot of iStorage products over the years, and they’re always reliable – we’ve never had an issue with them. So when it comes to grades, the iStorage datAshur PRO+C gets an A+!

The iStorage datAshur PRO+C is available on iStorage-UK.com starting at £99. Follow iStorage on TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.
