The lovable Wonder Pets are back in their latest DVD adventure, Ollie’s Slumber Party!. This 99-minute collection of 8 adorable episodes from the Emmy Award-winning show features hyper bunny Ollie and his friends The Wonder Pets, a team of friends that work together to help others and solve problems. The Wonder Pets consist of a Guinea Pig called Linny, a turtle named Tuck, and a duckling called Ming-Ming. The sweet trio are good-natured and understanding, putting up with the often-annoying Ollie and using teamwork to solve problems. The Wonder Pets live in a classroom by day, but after the schoolbell rings, they jump into action to assist animals in trouble. In these episodes, the Wonder Pets save a Hound Dog trapped inside a jukebox, help a Cool Cat and a Hip Hippo get along, cheer up a grumpy baby Godzilla that’s terrorizing a city, and help a baby Dalmatian at a firehouse who is afraid to slide down the pole. They also attend Ollie’s slumber party and have a very hard time getting him to calm down and go to sleep.
I thought the Wonder Pets was sweet and imaginative, and I really liked how the characters were portrayed. This is the kind of kids show that isn’t in-your-face or obnoxious, so it won’t make parents tear their hair out! I think this is the perfect DVD for families to enjoy together. One word of warning though: for about 24 hours after watching this, I kept walking around the house humming, “The phone…the phone is wing-ing…”. I’m pretty sure every parent in the country must have that song memorized by now, it’s a little too catchy!
