As a member of the Family Review Network, I often get emails about a variety of interesting products. They recently contacted me on behalf of Herman T’s BBQ Sauce with an offer to sample their unique sauce. I love trying new things in the kitchen, so I thought it would be fun to test them out! And one lucky Contest Corner reader will win a 2-pack of Herman T’s BBQ Sauce Mix, so read on!
My take:
When my package of Herman T’s BBQ Sauce arrived in the mailbox yesterday, it was perfect timing; we were having company over for dinner, so I had a package of steaks defrosting in the fridge. Perfect opportunity to put this BBQ sauce to the test!
I like to marinate my steaks in the fridge before cooking, so I thought it would be fun to use this sauce as a marinade. I received two packets of BBQ mix: Original and Hot. You mix 1 tablespoon of dry mix with 1/2 cup water and 1/2 of ketchup, and whisk it to a boil. I prepared a batch of both the spicy and regular, and poured them into separate ziploc bags with the steak to marinate. After an hour and a half or so, I popped the steaks into the oven. I would usually marinate them longer, but I was short on time! Here’s the finished product:
I loaded up my plate with steak, homemade bread, and salad; I meant to take a picture because it looked so good, but I totally forgot in my eagerness to taste it! All three of us enjoyed the dinner. The consensus was that the steak was good, but we couldn’t really taste the sauce. I think this would be best appreciated as a topping for meat rather than a marinade, so that you could really enjoy the flavor – although it didn’t help that I ran out of ketchup, so I only made 1 cup of each sauce. I tried a piece of steak marinated in each flavor; I was afraid that the “Hot” variety would be too intense for me – I have a very low tolerance for spicy foods – but it wasn’t outrageously spicy, so I was able to enjoy it. I had fun sampling Herman T’s BBQ Sauce and I look forward to trying it in other dishes!

Some time in the 1950รขโฌโขs Herman T used his creative science mind and developed a very unique BBQ Sauce that he believed would be the perfect compliment to any beef, fish, chicken or sausage. He believed that the perfect sauce should be able to stand by itself and should always be an addition to any meal.

Hi! I learned the BBQ sauce is a mix and you can mix up as much as you want at one time. Thought that was great if you are going to cook a lot of different meats on the barbeque grill. ๐
I saw the BBQ lemon and lime shrimp recipe and I KNOW I need to make that for my husband, he’ll love it.
Thanks for the chance to win!
