One of my favorite bloggers, Money Saving Mom, is doing a very special blogging drive to raise money for the relief efforts in Haiti. For every person who blogs about what they are doing to help, Crystal will donate $10 to Compassion International’s disaster outreach. I am writing this post about my small part so that I can participate in her drive and share ideas on how we can all make a difference.
How can we help?
1. Donate. The organization I have chosen to support is Hope For Haiti, an excellent organization that was rated 4-stars by Charity Navigator. You can donate any amount to them, big or small, via PayPal. Of course, there are many, many wonderful charities that are working in Haiti – check out Charity Navigator’s “Help Survivors of the Earthquake in Haiti” page for a list.
2. Blog about it. Participate in Money Saving Mom’s blogging drive by writing a post about what you are doing to help those in Haiti, and she will donate $10 for every link left. Don’t have a blog? Email her or leave a comment on her blog, and she will donate .30 cents to provide a meal for a starving person in Haiti. To put that into perspective – if all you can donate is $1, you will have fed 3 people.
Extra Entries For The Month Of January: Effective immediately, I will be offering one extra entry into every giveaway this month for each dollar donated to Hope For Haiti. Just leave a separate comment on the giveaway you are entering with your donation invoice number. Leave a separate comment for each dollar – if you donate one dollar, leave one comment, if you donate five dollars, leave five comments, etc.
