My Take:

Your Songs is a lovingly crafted big-band re-imagining of old favorites. Arranged, orchestrated, and conducted by Connick, it lays the perfect foundation for his smooth voice. I loved his song selections – Frank Sinatra’s “All The Way” and Nat King Cole’s “Mona Lisa” are the perfect showcase for his vocal style. And the songs span the eras: He also covers The Carpenters (“Close To You”), The Beatles (“And I Love Her”), and even Charlie Chaplin (“Smile”). The full orchestra is fantastic and add so much richness and depth – this music is truly ageless, and I think listeners of all generations will really enjoy it. This album is very well put together and I found it to be a pleasure to listen to.

  13. Oh yes…Harry Connick Jr. has brought the fabulous ’40s back to life with this cd. He has a great voice…right up there with the classic singers like Sinatra. I heard a bit of his song from this cd called “All The Way” and it’s great! I used to hear it all the time because my Mom was the biggest Sinatra fan!
