GoodGoes.org

Save The Children is a well-know organization that works to create change for needy children in the US and around the world. They have been rated 4 stars by Charity Navigator, and are an organization that I personally support. Save The Children has recently launched GoodGoes.org, a campaign dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of local health workers in developing countries. To help spread the word about this initiative, Save The Children have a GoodGoes.org Pedometer to give away to one lucky Contest Corner reader – so please read on & learn more about this campaign!

About Save The Children & GoodGoes.org:

See where the good goesâ„¢

Meet local health workers and the children they help to survive.
www.GoodGoes.org

Each year, almost 9 million children in the developing world die of largely preventable and treatable illnesses before they reach the age of five – that equates to approximately 24,000 child deaths a day.

However, every 4 seconds a child survives thanks to the basic health care provided by local health workers.

Save the Children and the Ad Council are working together to mobilize citizen action in the U.S. to help local health workers save more children worldwide.

Help local health workers bring the good to the children who need it most.
You are one step away from helping children around the world survive.

Local health workers are the heroes of our campaign. Help us train frontline health workers in communities around the world to bring lifesaving care to children in need. Your gift of $150 combined with those of others can provide resources for training programs for health workers who will promote healthy behaviors and diagnose and treat common childhood infections.

  2. Nearly 4 million babies die each year in their first month — half within their first 24 hours — mostly from preventable or treatable causes. Kangaroo Care can help small babies survive. When the newborn is wrapped skin-to-skin with the mother, a baby can maintain a proper body temperature and breastfeed on demand. For $10, health workers can train a mom to use kangaroo care and provide a cap to keep the baby warm. This package is proven to cut death rates in half for babies born with low birth weights.
