Firmoo Prescription Sunglasses Review

Firmoo

I don’t think I’ve ever known Jai to own a pair of sunglasses in the 9 years I’ve known him. He has occasionally borrowed them – when we were in London in 2009, there was an explosion of pollen all over the place, so he borrowed my sunglasses to protect his watering eyes. He looked pretty cute in my large, high-fashion sunglasses. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I, on the other hand, wear sunglasses almost every time I leave the house, even in winter. I think they’re an awesome fashion accessory and I hate having sun in my eyes. I always wonder how he does it, but if I say he needs to get a pair, he shrugs and goes, “I’m OK.” He’s the ultimate in easy to please – never wants to go to any trouble. Sometimes I think he puts up with a lot of discomfort without even realizing it!

So when Firmoo, a popular online eyewear store, emailed me and invited me to review my choice of glasses from their site, I thought this would be the perfect time to pick up a pair of prescription sunglasses for Jai. Since he is farsighted in his left eye, it made sense to get an RX pair to make his vision that much clearer while outside and also to encourage him to wear them. I pulled up the site and had a look at it with Jai, telling him to pick whichever style he liked the best.

Unisex full frame wrap-around metal sunglasses

He decided to pick these unisex full frame wrap-around metal sunglasses, because someday he wants to weld himself a pair of streampunk glasses, so he says if the frame ever breaks on these he’s going to modify them into a pair of funky steampunk goggles. Ha! I love it.

The glasses arrived with a somewhat off-center hard case, a soft case, a repair kit and a cleaning cloth. Here is Jai in his new sunnies:

Very John Lennon! I like it and so does he. He says they’re comfortable and that it does make a difference when he’s outside in terms of reducing eye strain from the light. Now he can see why I’m such a big fan of sunglasses! It’s so helpful to have them in his prescription – although his vision is good enough that he doesn’t need to wear glasses to see, obviously it improves his vision clarity to have RX sunglasses rather than a standard pair. Oh, and by the way, the frames are quite sturdy so they haven’t been cut up into steampunk goggles yet. ๐Ÿ˜‰
