SpongeBob SquarePants – Extreme Kah-Rah-Tay is the latest SpongeBob DVD offering, a collection focusing on SpongeBob’s familiar love of karate. This disc contains 8 episodes, from Squidward learning karate after seemingly getting his groceries stolen, to SpongeBob attempting to impress Sandy’s sensei in “The Way of The Sponge”. This is a pretty small collection, with no extra features that I am aware of. Some of these SpongeBob DVDs seem to have a bit of a thin premise – I’ll notice that some of these collections will tout a theme, but only a few of the episodes really have anything to do with it. There were a few episodes on this DVD where I thought, “What does this have to do with karate?” It feels to me a little like an excuse to throw another DVD release together. However, I’m sure the kids watching this don’t care, since the episodes are funny regardless of the theme.
You can pick up a copy of SpongeBob SquarePants – Extreme Kah-Rah-Tay on Amazon. It has a suggested retail of $14.99 and is on sale for $9.57 as of this writing. I received a promotional copy of this DVD for review consideration.
