As you prepare to entertain guests this holiday season, your thoughts will likely turn to decor at some point. We all want to recreate that warm, festive glow that is so closely associated with holiday reveling – but sometimes that is easier said than done. Although we think fondly of Christmas mantles bedecked in candles, this may not be a practicality if you have small children, pets, or live somewhere that prohibits open flames. Enter Di Potter Wine Shades!
This clever invention turns ordinary household objects into a centerpiece that is flame-free. These translucent paper shades fit around a wine glass to create a “Lamp” effect; all you need to do is add an LED light and ta-dah! You have an illuminated centerpiece. (You cannot use these with candles for obvious reasons!) I think these are a really cute idea, and they’d be perfect for someone short on space, such as apartment or dorm dwellers – this way, you can turn your dishes into a centerpiece and put them away neatly after your party, so there are few extra bits and pieces to store. LED candles can be found at most department stores – I have bought them in the past to decorate a room at a nursing home with, as they are great for adding atmosphere without posing any danger. I don’t have a set of LEDs on hand at the moment – looks like it’s time to invest in another pair so I can see these shades lit up!
Di Potter Wine Shades are available on DiPotter.com in sets of 6 for $22. (Wine glasses/LED lights not included) A sample was received for the purposes of this article.
