Meet our 31 Featured Teachers For Each Day of December
Did you know that teachers often spend a significant amount of their paycheck purchasing classroom supplies? Back in August, we published an in-depth article on the topic where I interviewed teachers about their experiences. Shockingly, some teachers are even incurring debt in order to provide for their students. The reasons vary – sometimes, educators aren’t provided with basic supplies to run their classrooms, and in other instances, they are taking it upon themselves to buy food and necessities for underprivileged students who come to school hungry. So many teachers have been forced to make school supply wishlists and spend their free time promoting them on social media in hopes of donations. And that’s why the Teacher Feature Blog Hop was created!
These giveaways serve two purposes: One is to raise awareness, because we’re able to get more exposure for these wishlists and bring attention to this issue due to everyone coming to this post to enter the giveaway. We hope that as people stop by to enter, they’ll also get a chance to learn why we’re doing this and potentially donate to a wishlist. The other reason for this giveaway is to offer prizes that are useful to teachers – most classroom wishlists are on Amazon, so gift cards are always welcomed by educators; and this month, we’re excited to be offering educational materials in the prize pack as well. Children’s books are one of the most common items I see on classroom wishlists!
I truly believe that if more people realized how much teachers need classroom supplies, they would be happy to help; many of these supplies only cost a few dollars each, so if everyone pitches in, we could collectively #ClearTheList! If you’ haven’t bought something off an Amazon wish list before, it’s so easy and fast – click here and scroll down for an example of how it works. You can even add an item to your cart now, and then buy it later when you finish your holiday shopping, because Amazon can easily mail to multiple addresses in one order! With winter break fast approaching, teachers will need to re-stock their classrooms, so anything helps.
With the holiday season here, it’s a wonderful time to get into the spirit of giving by looking at a wishlist and buying a small gift. Meet our 31 Featured Teachers for December below, scroll their wishlists, and consider donating an item!
