Charter wants to make ordering cable services more fun. We all know what a drag talking to the cable company can be – I think I’d rather have my teeth pulled – so Charter is taking a new approach to customer service in the hopes of providing a more enjoyable experience for their customers. The first step they’ve taken is offering a sweepstakes – all month long, anyone who orders services through Charter.com will be entered in a daily drawing to win a 22″ flat screen HDTV. Entrants will also have a chance at a grand prize package that includes a 52†LCD flat screen HDTV, a Home Theater System, and one year of free Charter Digital Cable service with HD programming. The contest is open to both new and upgrading customers, who will be automatically entered upon installation of their chosen service.
I had no idea that Charter even offered sweepstakes, but apparently this isn’t the first one. They’ve also given away laptops and Xboxes, all in the hopes of changing how people view their relationship with the cable company. I guess it’s working – a contest they held last month brought them more new customers than any online promotion to date. So did these customers have more fun ordering their cable through Charter? If they won a laptop, I bet they did.
