Faryl Smith is a 13-year-old singing sensation. Hailing from Northamptonshire, England, Smith blew judges away on “Britain’s Got Talent” with her powerful voice. Even Simon Cowell remarked that she was “Literally one in a million …the most talented youngster I’ve ever heard.”
And now with her debut album “Faryl” set for a US release on May 5th, Smith is bringing her powerhouse voice stateside. I had a chance to preview the album, and I was very impressed. Smith is a classical singer (think: Charlotte Church), and she delivers. There are powerful renditions of traditional hymns like “Ave Maria” and “Amazing Grace” alongside more contemporary tracks, like her cover of John Denver’s “Annie’s Song”. There’s even a version of ABBA’s “The Way Old Friends Do” – I’m a huge ABBA fan, and I was impressed to find out that Björn Ulvaeus personally changed the song’s lyrics especially for Smith.
Smith’s rich operatic voice is beautiful and compelling – anyone who enjoys this genre would do well to give this disc a spin. And three lucky Contest Corner readers will win their own copy of “Faryl”! Here’s how to enter:

I love the Amazing Grace 🙂
It’s hard to pick just one favorite. I LOVED her version of Amazing Grace, but Annie’s song made me envision someone spinning around with their arms out it was so joy filled. Also loved Ave Maria and Somwhere. Okay….I’ll stop now.
