I recently had the opportunity to try out a new complimentary backpack courtesy of Ark Clothing, a purveyor of bags, clothes, and accessories. The backpack which we received was the new Ark Alpine Bag in Desert Khaki, a canvas pack that is meant to be sturdy and practical. This bag includes straps to wear over your back, and its main compartment expands for storage. The top of the bag has drawstring ties with an overlapping flap that snaps shut. This flap has decorative buckles on it to add to the bag’s style. The fact that the buckles are just for decoration and the bag opens and closes via hidden snaps is much more convenient to me, as it makes it far easier to open whilst still retaining the nice look and accent of a buckle. There is also a front pocket in addition to an inside hidden zip compartment to add more storage areas.

My only critique of the bag is that while I was opening the snaps on the flap, I had to use quite a bit of force and was afraid I might tear them off by accident, although it seems to be built for that. The snaps are bolted pretty firmly into the back of the bag, so perhaps over time it will become easier to snap and unsnap. But overall, I thought this bag was nicely made – it seems quite versatile to me, as you could use it for storing everything from tools to books. Its masculine appearance makes it a great gift idea for Father’s Day; we actually gave this gift to a male relative as a birthday present, and it was a big hit!
