The Mayor’s Challenge asks people to go online to mywaterpledge.com and select the city they live in and then choose from 17 conservation action-pledges to implement in their daily lives. Cities get points based on resident participation and compete to see which cities can be the most water-wise while residents win thousands of dollars in eco-friendly prizes. The Challenge provides localized insights into how participants’ conservation actions like reducing water or minimizing plastic waste affects their local community as well as the nation. Understanding the direct connection between conservation actions and the health of one’s local community is crucial to creating meaningful and sustained changes in behavior.
