Nerd Haiku Review & Giveaway – Ends 10/26 – US & Canada

If you’re a lover of all things geeky, then I have a fun book that you may enjoy: Nerd Haiku! This collection of short-form poetry contains over 200 haiku dedicated to topics like Star Wars, computers, Lord of The Rings, gaming, and other classic “Geek” fare. I recently received a promo copy of Nerd Haiku by Robb Pearlman for review, and it was a quick, light read. This collection of nerdy poetry covers a wide range of topics dear to geeks, and tries to maintain a flow of related subjects as the book goes on. Here’s one of my favorites:

Red Skull is Elrond
is Mr. Smith. What thread is
this Hugo Weaving?

I also thought this one was clever:

Question: Why do I
knit Cthulhu hats? Answer:
Because I Lovecrafts.

Some of the haikus almost read like Tweets, which makes me want to craft more poetic Twitter statuses now! Some of these poems made me roll my eyes, but in all, it’s a fun book and one which I could easily picture being a hit at an anime convention – if you’ve ever passed the time in those hotel hallways waiting for a panel to start, then you can perfectly picture a group of cosplayers reciting these haikus for entertainment! 😉 I think this could make for a fun gift; just a quick note that I should point out, this book does contain some language. This doesn’t offend me at all, but I thought I should mention it for the many parents who read this site so no one is taken aback!
