What is the best gift for the fashionista on your list? Clothes, of course! One lucky Contest Corner reader will win a $50 gift certificate to Mikarose, so read on!
Mikarose is an online boutique that aims to create stylish, charming dresses that aren’t revealing. As someone who absolutely loves dresses, I was immediately taken by their line of incredibly cute clothing! They’ve done a great job of making flattering clothing that women seeking coverage can feel comfortable in, without anything looking like dull potato sacks! Do you ever feel like sometimes when you’re shopping, the dresses are either super sexy or matronly bags, with nothing in between? I have no problem with sexy dresses, of course, but sometimes it’s not appropriate for the event I’m buying for, and I don’t really feel comfortable in skimpy stuff at my current weight. My favorite thing about Mikarose is that you don’t think, “Oh, these are modest clothes” – they’re just super cute clothes, period!
After looking through their selection of dresses, I had the tough job of choosing one for review. I ended up getting the “Ashley” in pink (Naturally!):
Here I am in the dress:
If you have eagle eyes, you may have noticed me wearing this dress in photos shown in several prior blog posts! What can I say, I love this dress so I’ve been wearing it all the time!
First off, let’s talk about the cut. Sure, it looked super cute on the model, but I always reserve judgement until I see the dress on me. Well, I was really pleased to see how well it fit! I think A-line cuts are the most flattering to my body, especially at the moment when I feel self-conscious about my weight and all those spots that lost muscle tone while I was laid up with my knee injury. Although it’s a snug type of fabric, the cut and the way it falls on my figure is really flattering. I ordered a size XL, and at 5’4″ with my weight in the mid-to-low 140s at the moment (I’m dieting so this changes each week! ;)), it fits perfectly, so the size chart was accurate. Plus, the style is just darling and of course I love the color.
Next, let’s talk about how the fabric. You guys, this is sooooo comfortable! It’s made of 95% Viscose and 5% Spandex, and it feels so soft, stretchy, and is totally versatile for a number of different applications or events. It’s cute enough to wear to a party, but soft enough to relax at home in. I love it!! The only portion that wasn’t comfortable was the tag, which I cut out immediately – I really hate tags on clothes. 😉 Everything about this dress and Mikarose in general is a winner for me. The only critique I have is that I noticed a small hole on the shoulder (Not where I took the tag out) – it’s possible that it could have snagged on something, although I spotted it pretty quickly so I think it was there to begin with. However, the dress has held up well other than that and the hole is too small to be noticeable anyway.
The Ashely retails for $44.99 on Mikarose.com.
