As you may recall, Contest Corner recently joined Procter & Gamble’s GIVE HEALTH initiative to donate clean drinking water to those in need. Thanks to YOUR clicks, the program achieved its goal of 100,000 days of water donated ahead of schedule! Thank you so much for helping us reach this wonderful goal. P&G sent me the following information about this milestone, along with more ways you can help the cause:
We Did It! 100,000 Days of Clean Drinking Water
Thanks to so many of you, Contest Corner has helped generate 100,000 days of clean drinking water through P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program (P&G CSDW). We crossed the finish line with hundreds of other bloggers who embedded the P&G Clean Water Blogivation widget on their sites. Every time a reader clicked, P&G committed to make one day (2 liters) of clean drinking water available to someone in need in a developing country.
To help you, our readers, understand the impact you made by pitching in with the Blogivation, check out this video about P&G CSDW’s work in Tanzania. It’s just one of the many stories about people who P&G CSDW – with the help of partners like World Vision, CARE, Save the Shildren and others – has been able to provide access to clean drinking water.
The PUR packet – developed by P&G in collaboration with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – is an innovation that quickly turns contaminated water into clean, drinkable water. Every day more than 4,000 children in developing countries die, simply because they don’t have clean drinking water, and more than 1 billion people around the world do not have access to clean drinking water
For that reason, Contest Corner is so excited to have been able to make a positive impact through the P&G Clean Water Blogivation on Changents.com. We hope you will stay involved on the P&G myGIVE Facebook page – for each new “like” and “share” through January 31, P&G will donate an extra day of clean water – and continue supporting extraordinary Change Agents around the world through Changents.com, our partner in helping P&G rally our readers to GIVE a day of water.
Please help us spread the word by sharing this post on Twitter and Facebook !
My Rotary club is also invlolved in providing clean water for people in both Mexico and Africa. This is a worlwide issue and I am so glad to hear of your success through this program sponsored by P&G. Cheers to Contest Corner!!!
This is great! I am glad to hear that this project was a success!
Wow, that is fantastic. Great to hear that it worked. Thanks for sharing
There are company’s out there that offer Water from Air technology also known as atmospheric water generators. These systems generate water that is 100% free of chlorine, fluoride, lead, recycled water, effluent and other toxic wastes. Most filtration systems remove all trace minerals from the water, thereby producing clean water. However there are systems that are specifically designed to retain the beneficial minerals that keep you healthy whilst removing impurities. So not only does an atmospheric water generator eliminate the need for plastic bottle the water generated with these dispensers costs in the neighborhood of 6 cents per gallon. http://www.koniafl.com
So glad to hear the project was a success!
That is great news! I love hearing success stories!
